Meet Nagib – From newcomer to Aeroline leadership: a journey of trust, teamwork and transformation

From Afghanistan to aerospace: building resilience early on


Nagib’s story begins with a transformative move from Afghanistan to Germany at the age of eight. Growing up in a new country taught him the value of adaptation, resilience, and curiosity.  



“My experiences shaped my mindset and still guide me today in my professional path.”, Nagib shares 



After graduating from the University of Applied Sciences Hamburg, he joined CIMPA, part of Aeroline - a dedicated Sopra Steria organisation for the aerospace sector, as a Project Consultant in the Aerospace and Manufacturing sector. It was his first professional experience, one where his background was not only welcomed but where he was also empowered to thrive. 

Through the Aeroline Career Booster Programme, an extension of the Internal Career Programme, he quickly grew, gained high-visibility responsibilities, such as moderating the 2024 Aeroline Kick-off event. Supported and trusted by his managers, Nagib progressed through several roles: Project Manager, Team Lead, and now, at age of 32, Service Line Manager.

Leading with purpose: strategy, people, and passion for aerospace


Today, Nagib directly leads two expert teams with 15 direct reports and collaborates with a wider network of 28 professionals. Acting as a bridge between executive management and operational teams, his focus areas include strategic planning, process optimization, talent development, and cross-functional collaboration. 



“What drives me is creating an environment where people can grow, take ownership, and continuously improve. It’s both challenging and highly rewarding.”, he says. 



Nagib’s role also aligns with his fascination for the Aerospace. He’s captivated not only by the engineering complexity but also the collaborative spirit that brings countless individual parts together to create an advanced final product.  



“Even after nearly a decade in this sector, I’m still inspired by the combination of high-end technology, international collaboration, and the drive for innovation”. 





Transformation through collaboration – Making impact together


One standout project in Nagib’s career was leading a large-scale shopfloor transformation for a major player in aerospace industry. The initiative introduced lean principles, implemented digital tools, and fostered a culture of continuous improvement.  



“The impact was visible: not just in KPIs, but in the mindset shift of the people involved”, he recalls. “It was a people-centric change journey that proved real change happens when processes and people evolve together.” 



Teams' spirit is definitely a cornerstone of Nagib’s work at Sopra Steria. He remembers a moment when a major project had to be launched from scratch within a very short timeframe. The client needed a full team of eight consultants ready to go.  



“Thanks to a collective effort of colleagues, partners, and managers, we recruited, onboarded, and prepared the team in record time”, he says. “It was a powerful reminder of what true collaboration means: achieving something no individual could have done alone.”  



Looking back, Nagib describes his day-to-day work as “diverse”, “future-driven”, and “impactful”. His path from newcomer to leadership has been shaped by the support and opportunities he received at Sopra Steria. 



“I believe it speaks to the power of inclusive culture and long-term development”, he concludes.
