From Aerospace engineering to SAP consulting: Discover how Anthony shapes his career path
Anthony started his academic journey as an aerospace engineer, specializing in aerodynamics and propulsion at ISAE-SUPAERO in Toulouse. At the time, he had no intention of entering the tech or consulting world.
“I never imagined myself working in a tech company or consulting”, he later reflects “but sometimes, the most unexpected paths lead to the most rewarding destinations.”
In 2016, Anthony joined Sopra Steria as an intern in the Aeroline Integration division, Sopra Steria’s dedicated organisation for the aerospace sector, working as a Business Analyst within the Manufacturing Execution System team. He then transitioned into a Project Manager role, gradually building expertise in both IT and functional domains, all while bringing his aerospace background as a valuable asset.
Transition to Consulting
As Anthony gained experience, he felt a growing desire to engage more strategically with clients.
“I wanted to be even closer to the client”, he said, “not just from a purely delivery or contractual standpoint, but to help them shape and drive their transformation from the very beginning”.
This realization led him to discover Sopra Steria’s consulting division, where he collaborated on several projects. Those experiences confirmed his interest in making a full transition. In July 2024, Anthony officially joined the Consulting business unit, focusing on supply chain, manufacturing, logistics, and procurement.
What really stood out to him during this transition was the support he received.
"No one questioned my decision”, Anthony shares. “In fact, they encouraged it and actively helped me make it happen. That’s one of the things I value most about Sopra Steria: you’re empowered to shape your own path, backed by people who believe in your potential”.
Growth, impact, and SAP Expertise
Among all the projects Anthony has worked on, one in particular stands out: a competitive RFP with a major aerospace player, aimed to completely transform their approach to planning, whether industrial planning, operations, or downstream execution processes.
“It was a highly complex project, because it touched nearly every part of the business”, he recalled, “but the client trusted us because we brought the right skills and expertise to the table, and that made all the difference”.
To deepen his understanding on how all the other business domains were connected, Anthony pursued an international certification in Supply chain planning. At the same time, he grew his technical expertise by joining the SAP community within the Consulting team at Sopra Steria. He received advanced training on the latest SAP technologies, including SAP IBP, SAP PPDS, and SAP PEO, tools he describes as “powerful and directly relevant to the work we do with our clients”. In addition, he was integrated in the Aeroline Career Booster Programme that strengthen his visibility and capacity to network with his managers and colleagues.
Despite moving from Integration to Consulting, Anthony maintained strong ties with his former colleagues.
“That synergy between entities, Consulting and Solutions, allows us to offer truly end-to-end value to clients”, he emphasised “combining functional insight with technical delivery under one roof”.
