Collaboration that sparks innovation in the real world?
Meet Pauline Van Nies, the AI expert
Welcome to "Explain to me like I’m 5", where we take complex topics and break them down into simple, easy-to-understand ideas. The goal is to ensure that anyone, not just AI experts or enthusiasts, can understand and learn more about these topics.
Pauline is an AI expert who builds AI helpers to support people during very important real-world missions. She has been working for Sopra Steria since January 2021, where she helps create amazing technology that can think, plan, and give advice, kind of like having a team of clever robots that whisper smart ideas into your ear when things get tricky!
Right now, she’s working on a special project that helps people make important decisions quickly, especially when things are moving fast and there’s no time to waste.
What does Pauline do in her role?
Imagine you're playing a game where you're the team captain, and you must make tons of quick decisions like where your team should go, who needs help, or what to do next. Sounds intense, right?
Now imagine you have a super-smart AI team behind you. These AI agents are like your trusted advisors, each one checking loads of important information, way more than any person could read on their own and helping you figure out the best move.
So instead of guessing or making decisions with just a small amount of information, you’ve got AI teammates who scan all the facts fast, sort through what matters most, and give you smart suggestions right when you need them.
It’s like having the brainpower of a whole library packed into one chat!
Well, Pauline builds AI systems that act like super teammates. These teammates are actually computer programs (we call them AI agents), and each one is an expert at something important like planning, giving directions, reading maps, gathering loads of information, and even breaking down complex stuff so it's very easy to understand. It’s kind of like hitting the "Call a Friend" lifeline on a talk show except the friend is five experts rolled into one, and they never miss a beat!
What makes this project stand out?
Pauline isn’t doing this alone; she works with a team of curious, clever people who are all passionate about solving big problems. Her job isn’t just about coding; it’s about helping real people with tech that matters.
Her team is building something they have never built before: a multi-AI agent system that works together like a dream team. Despite the new tech, each person on the project brings something special from designing how it looks to making sure it is robust, works transparently and accurately. The AI gives back clear suggestions that actually make sense. That’s because it follows explainable patterns to come up with reliable advice the team can trust.
Why do I love this work?
Pauline loves her work because it’s challenging, innovative, and meaningful. Showing what happens when you bring together a group of motivated and highly skilled people to solve real world needs one day at a time.
Come help us build the future. One smart decision at a time.
