Within the Digital Platform Services department, our teams specialize in areas such as cloud, operating systems, virtualization, databases, backup or storage, as well as networking and security. We also have 1st line support consultants who speak French and English, but also Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and German.

The Application Services department is responsible for areas such as software development, data engineering, testing services, CRM, ITSM and ERP platform integrations, as well as application management for customers in Scandinavia, Benelux, France, Germany, Switzerland and the UK.


Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Senior Windows Engineer to join Sopra Steria Polska for a team that cooperates with one of our Norwegian clients.

Note that we can only offer cooperation to people are located in Silesian area and are willing to commute to our office in Katowice.

Responsibilities:​

  • Design, implement, and maintain Windows Server environments following best practices, ensuring high availability, security, and scalability.
  • Administer and troubleshoot core Windows services (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, GPO), resolving complex issues through root cause analysis.
  • Provide 2nd and 3rd line support within ITIL processes, including incident, problem, and change management.
  • Execute patching, upgrades, migrations, and lifecycle management while maintaining system stability and compliance.
  • Monitor, optimize, and secure infrastructure using enterprise tools, ensuring performance, capacity planning, and adherence to security standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and automate operational tasks using scripting and IaC tools to improve efficiency and reliability.

  • PowerShell (automation, scripting)
  • Monitoring & logging: SCOM, Azure Monitor, Event Viewer, Sysmon, SIEM
  • Backup solutions: Commvault, Windows Server Backup
  • Security: Windows Firewall, GPO security baselines, PKI / Certificate Services

Qualifications

Must have requirements:​

  • Strong expertise in planning, deploying, and maintaining Windows Server environments in enterprise-scale infrastructures
  • Proven experience in troubleshooting advanced issues related to Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy
  • Hands-on experience with patching, upgrades, migrations, and system lifecycle management
  • Experience with on-prem and hybrid infrastructure, including virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V)
  • Solid understanding of security best practices, system hardening, and compliance
  • Practical experience with automation using PowerShell (and preferably DSC or IaC tools)
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes (incident, problem, change management)
  • Certifications:
    - Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate.
    - Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator (Active Directory / AAD)
    - ITIL® 4 Foundation
  • English B2 level.
  • Structured and disciplined approach to operations and documentation.
  • Customer-oriented mindset with focus on stability and end-user experience.
  • Strong teamwork skills and ability to collaborate across technology domains.
  • Proactive attitude in identifying performance improvements and capacity needs.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Being open to occasional business trips abroad and regular visits in our office in Katowice.


Nice to have requirements:

  • Zabbix and ServiceNow experience.
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP) - Data Center Virtualization.
  • Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance and Identity Fundamentals (SC-900)
