Job Description

We are seeking an Avionics Hardware Architect with expertise in DO-254 and airborne electronic hardware development to lead the architecture, design, and certification of safety-critical avionics systems.

The successful candidate will be responsible for defining and architecting complete avionics hardware solutions from requirements through certification while working closely with systems and software engineering teams.

Location: The role can be onsite (CT), hybrid, or fully remote. 

Responsibilities

  • Architect end-to-end avionics hardware systems from concept through certification and production.
  • Collaborate across systems, hardware, software, verification, and certification teams.
  • Lead airborne electronic hardware development activities in compliance with DO-254.
  • Support certification audits and regulatory compliance activities.
  • Able to assess and advise on the application of COTS in alignment with AC 20-152A
  • Able to define interfacing between Hardware and FPGA.
  • Able to define interfacing between Software and FPGA.
  • Interpret PCB/CBA design considerations and constraints.
  • Support definition and allocation of system-level and software requirements.
  • Design and implement solutions for  FPGA, ASIC, board-level, and embedded hardware efforts.
  • Conduct architecture reviews, technical assessments, and trade studies.
  • Drive requirements traceability, verification planning, and validation activities.
  • Mentor engineering teams and provide technical leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
  • Strong avionics hardware development experience.
  • Extensive hands-on 12+ years of experience with DO-254 certification programs.
  • Experience architecting complex avionics hardware systems throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Airborne Electronic Hardware (AEH)
    • FPGA and digital hardware development
    • Hardware/Software Interfacing
    • Systems engineering methodologies
  • Excellent communication and technical leadership skills.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.  Dual citizenship should be disclosed.
  • Able to travel approximately two to six weeks in a year.
