NextGen AI Search
While data serves as the lifeblood of modern enterprises, a surge in volume can lead to information overload, making it challenging to extract valuable insights. How can AI search help transform this data deluge into actionable intelligence for your business? We teamed up with the Finance Intelligence Unit (FIU) Netherlands to find out.
Empowering financial intelligence with AI
The FIU analyses transactions that could be linked to money laundering or other financial crime. Robbert Springorum, Deputy Director of the FIU, highlights the critical need for reliable, quick, and accessible information when investigating these unusual transactions.
"Information is key for the FIU," says Robbert. "We want our website to be the place where banks, citizens, and journalists can all find the specific information they need."
To achieve this, the FIU partnered with Sopra Steria to enhance its data accessibility. As a result, we at Sopra Steria developed a scalable, modular, and human-centered solution to this challenge - Advanced Search.
The power of Next-Gen AI search
Our Next-Gen AI solution begins with a pre-processing phase, extracting text and metadata from diverse data sources. The content is then chunked and analysed to understand its meaning. AI embedding models then transform these chunks into vectors. This process enables quick computation of relevant results based on their similarity to the user's query.
Subsequently, a re-ranking mechanism ensures the most pertinent results appear first, enhancing the search experience. The system generates insightful answers by leveraging large language models. Modular architecture allows for seamless integration of different AI models and adapts automatically to user needs, whether deployed in the cloud, on-premises, or off-grid. By scaling both horizontally and vertically, Advanced Search provides a smooth experience, transforming how organisations utilise information and empowering them to combat challenges like financial crime more effectively.
Key strategies for effective AI implementation
On 7th October, we presented our Advanced Search solution at the World Summit AI. After engaging in many fruitful discussions with industry peers, we have identified three critical strategies for organisations aiming to harness AI effectively:
- AI is nothing without you: AI should not be viewed merely as a technological tool but as an enabler for people. Educating your team is essential to responsibly leverage AI in daily operations.
- Design for scalability: many proof-of-concepts fail due to a lack of scalable design. It's vital to choose solutions that integrate seamlessly with your existing architecture and are configurable to your data and specific use cases.
- Prepare for dirty data: deploying advanced search technologies on unstructured data often reveals data quality issues. Implementing robust data governance ensures that AI helps people structure data efficiently, maximising the benefits of large language models.
At Sopra Steria, our Advanced Search exemplifies these strategies by providing a scalable solution that transforms vast amounts of data into valuable insights.
