Job Description

As an MS SQL DBA within the Microsoft SQL practice, you thrive on variety in your tasks and clients! You work within the MS SQL Server Specialist Group in a team setting. The team operates systematically, combining regular SQL Server management with larger projects. You dedicate your time to managing and monitoring a large number of databases for multiple progressive clients in government, financial services or industry. Additionally, you implement installations, optimizations, consolidations, and migrations, both on-premise and in cloud environments.

In addition to administration, tasks such as analysis, design, advising, and estimating the required effort for changes are also part of your responsibilities. The work is not limited to maintenance and regular updates and migrations; an MS SQL Server DBA evolves into an expert in all of these skills.

Sopra Steria Software Development Microsoft & IBM is the community within Sopra Steria where our colleagues utilize their expertise in MS SQL Server, Microsoft .NET, Java, and Technical Chain Management to support our clients in setting up, maintaining, and (further) developing their applications, including databases and middleware. Increasingly, cloud technologies such as Azure and development pipelines like Azure DevOps are being utilized in these processes.

In order to continue providing optimal support to our clients, we have embarked on an ambitious plan where everyone, whether you're a developer, database administrator, or service delivery manager, must be Azure-certified. This means ensuring that within your specialization, you can obtain certifications such as Azure Database Administrator Associate, Azure Administrator Associate, Azure Developer Associate, and Azure Solution Architect Expert.

  • You have several years of experience as an MS SQL Server DBA and knowledge of multiple MS SQL versions up to the most recent one.
  • As an MS SQL DBA, you have extensive knowledge of SQL Server administration, monitoring, migrations, and consolidations, and you can provide advice and execute various database-related topics such as security, performance, backup & recovery.
  • You hold various Microsoft certifications, including those in Azure, or are willing to invest in them.
  • You want to be involved in the development of colleagues and our community.
  • You speak Dutch at professional level.

Additional Information

You’ll become a part of a major Tech player in Europe recognised for its consulting, digital services and software development. On top of that, you’ll join a team that consists of more than 130 specialists, active in multiple Practices. When you join us, there is plenty of room for your ideas, your development, your personality and your craftsmanship.

Sharing knowledge with each other, continuing to learn and having fun together are important parts of how we work as a team. During our team meetings, fellow specialists share knowledge about their field, such as Applications, Infrastructure (as Code), Data & AI and Security. Our Inspirator program will teach you how to transfer your knowledge to colleagues and customers.

We regularly organize events and meet-ups where you gain new knowledge, share experiences and think about the growth of our Practice. We believe that enthusiasm and a willingness to learn are just as important as experience. So do you already have some experience and would you like to develop further? Then we will make a plan together with you to become an expert in your field.

And of course we organize and visit conferences such as Techorama NL/BE, FutureTech, TeqNation, Azure Lowlands, Azure Fest (the last edition was hosted by Sopra Steria) and DevNetNoord. As a team, we enjoy fun outings to, for example, the Efteling or the Ardennes.

Do you picture yourself in a fast-growing, vibrant team at the cutting edge of software implementation? Does working with international clients across multiple industries sound exciting? Then you’re in the right place.

We offer a generous employee benefits package that includes:

  • Flexible working hours and the possibility to work hybrid (at the customer's premises, in the office and from home).
  • A training plan, so that you can obtain your certifications.
  • Regular inspiration sessions such as a monthly follow-up day at the office with presentations, workshops and a pleasant lunch or dinner.
  • A lease car or mobility budget.
  • A furnished home office, laptop and telephone, non-contributory pension, internet and home working allowance and collective health insurance.
