Job Description

We are looking for a Safety Engineer for Advanced Vehicle systems to support the design, analysis, and validation of safety-critical automotive features. The role focuses on ensuring functional safety and system robustness for advanced vehicle subsystems (autonomous driving, ADAS, E/E architecture, actuators, sensors). 

Responsibilities 

  • Perform functional safety analyses (FTA, FMEA, STPA) for advanced vehicle systems. 
  • Support system design verification and validation activities to ensure safety compliance. 
  • Develop system-level architecture with integrated safety requirements 
  • Collaborate with software, hardware, electrical, and vehicle subsystem teams to integrate safety requirements. 
  • Develop and maintain safety documentation: architectures, requirements, hazard analyses, verification evidence. 
  • Identify and mitigate potential failure modes in advanced vehicle components. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field. 
  • Experience with functional safety in automotive systems (ISO 26262, ISO 21448). 
  • Exposure to ADAS, autonomous driving, robotics systems or E/E architecture projects. 
  • Practical knowledge of HARA, FTA, FMEA or STPA methods. 
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across multidisciplinary teams. 

Preferred skills 

  • Familiarity with mission control safety concepts, including teleoperation and fleet-level risk management. 
  • Experience with fail-operational and redundancy strategies for autonomous systems. 
  • Experience Handling perception uncertainty and degraded sensor states. 
  • Knowledge of DDS (Data Distribution Service) or similar middleware for distributed AV systems. 
  • Experience with AUTOSAR Adaptive for AV platforms. 
  • Experience with MBSE tools (SysML, Cameo). 
  • Experience with Scenario-based testing tools (Carla, PreScan, dSPACE). 
  • Hands-on experience with SOTIF (ISO 21448) is a strong plus. 
  • Understanding of AI/ML safety assurance. 
  • Certification in functional safety (e.g., TÜV Functional Safety Engineer) is a plus.
