Job Description

We are seeking a motivated Policy Officer to join our Institutional Relations team in Brussels. You will play a key role in supporting Sopra Steria’s digital public affairs activities, contributing to the company’s advocacy efforts and business development initiatives.

As Policy Officer, you will monitor and analyse policy and regulatory developments in digital policies and the way they impact Sopra Steria’s key business lines. Your work will directly contribute to identifying business opportunities and shaping Sopra Steria's advocacy campaigns.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and assess relevant EU initiatives impacting Europe’s technological and industrial base, with a special focus on critical sectors and datas.
  • Prepare internal briefings and reports to support institutional relations activities.
  • Contribute to the preparation of external positions in key topics.
  • Support the institutional relations work in the Brussels-based ASD and digital associations.
  • Mapping and participating in relevant events. 
  • Contribute to Sopra Steria’s outreach and advocacy efforts on policy and regulatory matters.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key EU stakeholders.

Focus Areas:

  • Digital topics: AI, Cloud, Extended Reality, Cybersecurity, Open Source, Digital Identity, Dataspaces.
  • Critical sectors: Defence, Security, Space, Aerospace, Financial Sector.

Qualifications

Academic Background: Trained in Law, Political Science, International Relations, Security Studies, or a related field.

Experience: At least 3 to 5 years of professional experience in public affairs, particularly in digital policies, within institutions, industry, associations, or public affairs consultancies.

Skills & Competences:

  • Outstanding writing and editing skills.
  • Ability to synthesise large volumes of information into clear, concise reports.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English; French is an advantage.
  • Strong digital literacy, including proficiency in PowerPoint and online research.
  • Quick learner with adaptability and a forward-thinking approach.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Brussels EU ecosystem.
  • Understanding of EU legislative and decision-making processes.
  • Familiarity with EU policies on digital, defence, security, and aerospace.
  • Fluent in English and French
