Job Description

Are you passionate about combating financial crime and ensuring regulatory compliance? We are seeking an innovative and detail-oriented Application Engineer to join our FEC Screening & Sanction Detection team in Nieuwegein, Netherlands. In this role, you will be at the forefront of protecting our customers and payment channels from financial economic crime and sanction violations.

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance critical monitoring systems for detecting financial economic crime (FEC) and sanction violations
  • Build and optimise scalable, secure, and cost-effective systems using INFORM's RiskShield, a real-time fraud prevention platform
  • Create and modify rules within the RiskShield application to improve performance and reduce false positives
  • Lead infrastructure and functional improvements within the Transaction Filtering and Name Screening squads
  • Automate deployment processes to enhance environment speed and reliability
  • Ensure regulatory compliance by implementing findings from audits and model validations
  • Collaborate closely with a cross-functional team to design and implement future-proof solutions
  • Contribute to high-impact security and compliance initiatives
  • Tackle and simplify complex architecture challenges in a dynamic environment

Qualifications

  • HBO or WO degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum of 2.5 years of relevant work experience in application engineering or financial crime prevention
  • Proficiency in Python, PySpark, Microsoft Azure, and Linux
  • Experience with cloud environments and automation technologies
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies and best practices
  • Familiarity with Power BI and data visualisation techniques
  • Understanding of security concepts, including Vulnerability Management and Azure Compliance
  • Experience with INFORM's RiskShield or similar transaction monitoring systems (preferred)
  • Knowledge of financial regulations and compliance frameworks
  • Understanding of sanction screening and transaction filtering processes
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
  • Proactive, results-oriented approach with a passion for security and efficiency
  • Ability to plan effectively and tackle complex issues in a dynamic environment
  • Fluency in Dutch and English (both required)

  • A permanent contract and a gross monthly salary between €3,000 and €6,000 (based on 40 hours per week). The exact amount depends on your experience and the role;
  • 8% holiday allowance;

  • 8% profit sharing on target (or a fixed OTB amount, depending on the role);
