Job Description

  • Provide Level 3 support for WebSphere Application Server environments, including installation, configuration, tuning, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
  • Experience in implementation project with building and providing consulting to manage the Middleware stack for complex architecture.
  • Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement permanent solutions to prevent recurrence.
  • Implement DevOps practices to automate deployment, monitoring, and maintenance tasks related to WebSphere environments.
  • Set up and configure WebSphere Application Server instances across development, testing, and production environments.
  • Monitor system performance, analyze metrics, and implement tuning strategies to optimize WebSphere Application Server performance.
  • Conduct capacity planning and ensure scalability of WebSphere environments.
  • Perform regular security audits, vulnerability assessments, and apply patches as necessary.
  • Generate performance reports, incident reports, and contribute to knowledge base articles.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and provide 24x7 support for critical production issues as required.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Shell, Python etc.
  • Provide support and participate in the CAB and change control process.
  • Management and problem resolution for all critical incidents and communicating with application owners.
  • Notify, escalate, and communicate to senior management on status of critical service requests, major incidents, and changes as necessary.
  • Experience in OS platforms (Linux, Windows, WebSphere, VTOM, Tomcat, mRemoteNG.) and have expertise on Linux Server and Application Management
  • Set up monitoring and logging solutions using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana), or Splunk to gain insights into WebSphere performance and operational metrics.
  • Develop alerts and dashboards to proactively identify and resolve issues.
  • Develop and maintain scripts using Bash, PowerShell, Python, or similar languages to automate routine tasks, deployments, and configuration changes.
  • Enhance automation capabilities to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
  • Work closely with DevOps teams to ensure seamless integration of WebSphere environments into the overall DevOps workflow.
  • Participate in DevOps practices such as automated testing, continuous monitoring, and iterative development.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, PowerShell, or Python.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Required Skills:

  • Strong understanding of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).

Preferred Skills:

  • IBM Certified System Administrator - WebSphere Application Server.
  • Experience with CI/CD and infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Familiarity with microservices architecture and modern application deployment patterns.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., IBM Certified System Administrator - WebSphere Application Server, Oracle Certified Professional, Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), Microsoft AZURE Cloud certifications) are advantageous.
  • Familiarity with ITIL practices and certification preferred to ensure adherence to industry best practices and service management standards.
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate

Total Experience Expected: 08-10 years
